Certified Geriatric Pharmacists in Australia
The Certified Geriatric Pharmacist credential is one of two pathways by which pharmacists can be authorized to receive payment to conduct home medication reviews and residential medication reviews in Australia. This article in U. S. Pharmacist provides an overview [US Pharm. 2013;38(1):16-18.]
Over 150 pharmacists in Australia have the Certified Geriatric Pharmacist credential and interest in the credential has been growing in recent years. In fact, the Immediate Past Chair of the CCGP Board of Commissioners, Chris Alderman, is an Australian.

CCGP works with the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia to offer the Certified Geriatric Pharmacist credential in Australia. SHPA offers two useful Fact Sheets:

The Australian National Prescribing Service has a website on Older People and Medicines with a variety of useful resources for health professionals.
The Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs sponsors the Veterans' MATES (Medicines Advice and Therapeutics Education Services) website, which has many excellent resources available for geriatric pharmacists. The link on the menu on the right side of the page that says "Therapeutic Education for Doctors and Pharmacists" goes to a drop down menu with a list of handouts on a variety of topics.
