The first administration of the certification examination was held on the morning of November 12, 1997, in conjunction with the ASCP Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Candidates for the examination are required to qualify prior to the administration of the examination. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, complete the application form, submit required documentation and pay the application fee.

The certification examination consists of 150 multiple choice questions. The test administration takes three hours. Beginning on March 15, 2006, the examination will be administered by Computer-Based Exam at more than 150 testing locations throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.  To identify the location of available testing centers for undertaking the CCGP examination, please visit United States Locations.  For international locations, including Canada and Australia, please visit International Locations.

Approximately one week to 10 days following approval of an Application, candidates will be notified by CCGP’s testing service, Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP) that an appointment may be made.  The notification will include instructions on contacting AMP’s scheduling center to arrange for an appointment.
