The certification
period is five years. Fees for recertification include an Application
Fee of $600 (USD). Certified Geriatric Pharmacists will also be
required to pay a Certification Fee of $250 (USD) in order to maintain
their 5 year certification.
Fees may be paid by check
or money order made payable to CCGP, or by credit card (VISA, MasterCard,
Discover or American Express). Application fees are non-refundable.
Exceptions to this policy will be determined by the executive committee
and appeals will be considered only on the basis of documented hardships.
Candidates must
submit the appropriate fee with the application form. Returned checks
and/or declined credit card transactions will be subject to a $25
(USD) handling fee. You must send a certified check or money order
for the amount due, including the NSF fee, to CCGP to cover returned
check and/or declined credit card transactions.
The Application
Fee supports the administration of the recertification examination
and CCGP’s role in administering the Professional Development
Program.The Certification Fee fee supports the operations of CCGP
and will provide benefits such as a quarterly newsletter, a published
directory of certificants, and the right to vote on, and participate
in, leadership positions.
To be eligible
for initial Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy, applicants must
currently be a licensed pharmacist and must have a minimum of two
years of experience as a licensed pharmacist. There are no continuing
education requirements for initial certification.
Initial certification
is achieved by undertaking and successfully passing the Certification
Examination in Geriatric Pharmacy.
To be eligible
for recertification, a Certified Geriatric Pharmacist must be “in
good standing” with the CCGP, possess a valid license and
must be current in payment of CCGP Fees.
Recertification
is achieved by examination or by successful completion of the Professional
Development Program for CGP Recertification. Under the Professional
Development Program for CGP Recertification, candidates must successfully
complete 75 hours of approved continuing education over a five-year
period. Candidates may complete their continuing education hours
at their own pace. However they must be earned prior to the expiration
date of their certification period. CCGP has formed a relationship
with ASCP to utilize its award-winning website, www.GeriatricPharmacyReview.com,
and live workshops held in conjunction with ASCP national meetings
for delivery of the education programs.
